The central coastal city of Danang has seen robust growth in the tourism sector, thanks to scores of festivals taking place between May and September.

Danang City recorded 1.6 million tourists over the past two months, surging by 26% year-on-year, said Tran Chi Cuong, deputy director of the Department of Tourism of Danang City. He attributed this to a series of festivals and activities, such as the Danang International Fireworks Festival and Danang-Summer Destination 2018 program.

DANANG 2018 FIREWORKS FESTIVAL OPENS

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF), themed "The Legend of Bridges", officially opened in the central city on April 30th.

On April 30, the host Vietnam, along with Poland, performed in the curtain-raising night.

France and the US will be the second performers on May 26th. Defending champions Italy and Hong Kong (China) will perform on June 2nd, while Sweden and Portugal will light up the night's sky on June 9th. The two best teams will be selected for the final on June 30th, where the winner of the festival will be chosen.

 

The event, which was held for the first time in 2008 and was formerly known as the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition, has emerged as an important cultural and tourism event, contributing to cultural exchanges and inviting many foreign tourists to Da Nang and Vietnam. From 2017, the annual event has become a two-month festival in order to lure more visitors to the city.
