Da Nang launched the tourist season in 2018 on April 27 at the Bien Dong Park in the city's Son Tra peninsula with a programme of more than 20 activities, aiming to lure and entertain visitors to the coastal city.

Prominent among the events will be a Kayak racing competition, a kite contest and pavilions introducing Da Nang tourism information, sea cuisines, tour services and performance of sea sports. Music performances will also be organised every night.

A painting contest themed sea and islands will be held for children, together with various other activities.

The number of tourists to the central coastal city of Da Nang reached more than 355,500 on holidays between April 28 and May 1, a year-on-year surge of 14.2 percent.

Of the total, there were over 101,600 foreigners and 253,900 domestic holiday-makers, up 20.2 percent and 12 percent respectively from the same time last year.

The majority of foreign visitors were from the Republic of Korea, Japan and China. They came to the city via direct flights.

Danang’s spring flower street for Tet

Danang City will host its first 'Spring Flower Street 2013' with an investment of VND17 billion by VietArt OOH Company, promising a colorful spring ambiance for the Han River near the city.

The festival will take place from 7 p.m. on February 7 to 10 p.m. on February 14. The one-kilometer road from Bach Dang Street in the Bach Dang-Phan Dinh Phung T-junction to Bach Dang-Le Van Duyet T-junction will be decorated and installed with artworks made of flowers.

The street will be divided into six sections with themes of spring in memory, spring of prosperity, spring of mountain and water, flower blossom, season of love and season of convergence. Each theme will have its own flowers and symbol.

With more than 100,000 baskets of flowers and ornamental trees with more than 100 types of flowers such as daisy, orchid, rose, marigold, tulip, carnation and lily.

Especially, inspired from the Year of the Snake 2013, flower street will also feature works depicting images of cobra and snakes. There will be a snake releasing a pearl, a symbol of good luck and prosperity.

One theme of the project is the season of love which coincides with Valentine's Day and heart-shaped flowers accordingly.

Other activities include cooking banh chung (square glutinous rice cake filled with pork and green bean paste) and donating Tet gifts for poor people.
