Danang industry eyes the potential of Hong Kong market in 2018, and aim to boost further actions for a sustainable development besides its recent strong markets of China and Korea.

Statistics by the Tourism Department showed that, for the first 6 months of 2018, 7,193 Hong Kong visitors arrived to Danang and witnessed a jump from 11,046 visitors in 2016 to 14,903 visitors in 2017. It is reported to increase 35% last year.

Mr. Johnny Li, Managing Director Gateway Group Limited in Hong Kong opined: "Danang has recently emerged as an attractive destination for foreign visitors. The recent Danang tourism presentation has helped Hong Kong travel agencies gain an in-depth look into luxurious accommodation services as well as the developing MICE market in Danang."

Located along sections of Mai Hac De and Ly Nam De streets in Da Nang's Son Tra District, the Son Tra Night Market was officially opened to the public on Sunday evening. It daily operates from 6.00pm until midnight, and admission is free for all visitors.

The new night market features a total of 152 stalls selling food and drinks, souvenirs, fashionable clothes, bags, footwear, specialties, dried seafood, books, pictures and other commodities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Chairwoman of the Son Tra District People's Committee, Mrs Tran Thi Thanh Tam, remarked that the purpose of the Son Tra Night Market was to to create a combined tourist and shopping space in the inner city, allowing visitors to comfortably shop, enjoy entertainment services and explore local cultural characteristics. This would help the city deal with the current lack of its own special tourism products.

FURAMA RESORT DANANG HOSTS 6TH ASIA GOLF TOURISM CONVENTION

Furama Resort Danang is proud to host the 6th Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC), organised by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) from May 7 to 13. This is without doubt the premier golf travel event in the Asia-Pacific region and in Vietnam, the highest-trending golf destination in Asia at the moment.

AGTC 2017 brought together 650 delegates from 37 countries, including about 240 buyers who are globally renowned golf tour operators with a market share of over 40% of the world's golf tourists.

Diverse activities were held on the framework of the AGTC 2017, including business meetings between partners in the golf and restaurant industries; international seminars on the values of golf tourism; Famtrip programs to survey products; media and press activities; and a friendly golf tournament, among others.

According to the Da Nang Tourism Department, IAGTO statistics show that there are currently approximately 56 million golfers all over the world, and the golf tourism industry is ranked third in terms of tourist motivation in Asia.

As many as 169 golf tour operators in 41 countries, which are members of the IAGTO, are exploiting golf tourism in the Asian market and wish to expand the market in Vietnam, targeting a 50% increase in the number of buyers for the Vietnamese market.

As estimated by IAGTO, Da Nang will raise its revenue from golf tourism to US$40 million per year in the 2018-2019 period.

The hosting of the 2017 AGTC contributes to promoting the development of high-quality tourism in Da Nang in line with the city's plans for tourism development. This also offers a good chance for the central coastal city to boost golf tourism, increase tourism spending and advertise Da Nang as a new destination for global-level events.

In addition, the convention provides opportunities for Da Nang travel agencies to foster ties with international partners in supplying golf support services such as traveling, accommodation, sight-seeing and resorts.
