Danang industry eyes the potential of Hong Kong market in 2018, and aim to boost further actions for a sustainable development besides its recent strong markets of China and Korea.

Statistics by the Tourism Department showed that, for the first 6 months of 2018, 7,193 Hong Kong visitors arrived to Danang and witnessed a jump from 11,046 visitors in 2016 to 14,903 visitors in 2017. It is reported to increase 35% last year.

Mr. Johnny Li, Managing Director Gateway Group Limited in Hong Kong opined: "Danang has recently emerged as an attractive destination for foreign visitors. The recent Danang tourism presentation has helped Hong Kong travel agencies gain an in-depth look into luxurious accommodation services as well as the developing MICE market in Danang."

Located along sections of Mai Hac De and Ly Nam De streets in Da Nang's Son Tra District, the Son Tra Night Market was officially opened to the public on Sunday evening. It daily operates from 6.00pm until midnight, and admission is free for all visitors.

The new night market features a total of 152 stalls selling food and drinks, souvenirs, fashionable clothes, bags, footwear, specialties, dried seafood, books, pictures and other commodities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Chairwoman of the Son Tra District People's Committee, Mrs Tran Thi Thanh Tam, remarked that the purpose of the Son Tra Night Market was to to create a combined tourist and shopping space in the inner city, allowing visitors to comfortably shop, enjoy entertainment services and explore local cultural characteristics. This would help the city deal with the current lack of its own special tourism products.

FURAMA RESORT DANANG UPGRADES INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION PALACE (ICP)

Furama Resort Danang has upgraded its renowned International Convention Palace while promptly finishing the construction of Ariyana Convention Centre (ACC) in order to welcome the upcoming APEC summit in November 2017.

With a total budget of VND 4.5 billion, the renovated construction of the International Convention Palace started in July with 10 different categories is expected to finish with all the furniture being re-painted to enhance the centre's brightness. Some significant adjustments include installing a high-capacity conference room sound system which costs more than VND 600 million; setting up a soundproof system and utilizing technical boxes to reduce parasitic noise; modernizing the security monitoring system with more cameras. In addition, the central air conditioning and chiller systems which cost nearly VND 2 billion are also installed along with the re-designing of the water system and the light system. Meanwhile, the VIP anteroom with new facilities is expanded and the kitchen system is also re-built with a double increase in the capacity of service, capable of holding five-star events, buffet parties for 1,000 guests at the same time.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh – Deputy General Director of Furama Resort Danang, "After renovation, the International Convention Palace (ICP) in conjunction with the upcoming Ariyana Convention Centre (ACC) will form the international-statured exhibition and convention complex. This complex will be the largest convention centre in Central Vietnam and the main venue for most of the major events of APEC 2017.

The International Convention Palace (ICP) was put into operation in 2006 to welcome the APEC Vietnam Summit taken place in the same year. From 2006 onwards, ICP has been the venue for thousands of international meetings and events. Meanwhile, Ariyana Convention Centre with the total invested capital of VND 350 billion, construction area of 5,500 m2, total construction floor area of 12,000m2 and the main conference room capable of holding 2,500 people will be hosting all kinds of local as well as international events and exhibitions. Managed and operated by Furama Resort Danang, both projects have affirmed the M.I.C.E strength of this culinary beach resort in Central Vietnam.
