OVER 3,100 ATHLETES TO GATHER FOR ASIAN BEACH GAMES – DA NANG 2016

An estimated 10,000 people, including nearly 5,000 athletes and trainers from 45 countries across Asia, will gather in Vietnam's central Da Nang city for the 5th Asian Beach Games (ABG 5) scheduled from September 24 to October 3, 2016. This information was released by the organising board at an international press conference held in Furama Resort on September 23.

The ABG5 will feature 14 sports, 22 disciplines and 178 events. The logo represents sand and waves in the shape of youthful and energetic athletes, while the mascot features a swift let - a distinctive bird of Vietnam's southern central coast. The slogan is "Shining Sea, Bright Future". This is indeed one of the continent's biggest sport events, initiated by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

In ABG4, Vietnam ranked 5th in the medal tally with 8 gold, 12 silver and 20 bronze medals. This year, the country set a target of making the top 4 at the ABG5.
