The world’s largest airline Emirates Airlines opens new route Dubai – Bangkok – Da Nang: A breakthrough opportunity for Da Nang tourism in 2025

The expansion of international flight networks in 2025 marks a significant turning point for the development of tourism in Da Nang and the central region. However, to fully capitalize on this potential, the tourism industry must enhance service quality, improve infrastructure, and implement effective strategies to attract visitors. Only by doing so can Da Nang solidify its position as a leading destination in Asia.

International Flights Unlock New Opportunities

One of the most promising signs for Da Nang’s tourism industry is the planned launch of the Dubai – Bangkok – Da Nang route by Emirates Airlines, the largest airline in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Initially, the departure time from Da Nang was scheduled for 11:55 PM, but to better align with airport operations, the airline has adjusted it to 10:15 PM. This change facilitates smoother connections between Da Nang and Dubai, a key aviation hub in the Middle East and worldwide.

From June 2, 2025, Emirates – the world’s largest airline Emirates, will operate 4 flights a week to Da Nang.

Along with that, at the SATTE 2025 tourism fair held in India, partners from the Middle East expressed interest in the Da Nang market, showing the city’s great potential in attracting customers from this region.

Driving Forces for Expanding Air Connectivity

The presence of Emirates Airlines in Da Nang not only opens up a new market but also has the potential to encourage Qatar Airways to resume its Doha – Da Nang route in the near future. Previously, Qatar Airways operated this route from 2018 but had to suspend it due to the pandemic. The competition between these two leading Middle Eastern airlines could accelerate Qatar Airways’ return to Da Nang, creating opportunities for connections to over 150 destinations worldwide through its extensive network.

Beyond Middle Eastern routes, 2025 will also witness expanded connectivity with key markets such as Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia. These new routes will help Da Nang welcome a larger number of international visitors, further driving the growth of the local tourism industry.

Da Nang Prepares to Welcome International Visitors

Along with the expansion of air connectivity, Da Nang’s hospitality sector must be upgraded to meet the growing demands of travelers. Accommodation facilities must not only ensure high-quality services but also incorporate premium amenities such as spas, fine-dining restaurants, and modern conference centers to better serve international guests.

Challenges and Directions of Da Nang Tourism

Nguyen Duc Quynh, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Hotel Association and Danang Tourism Association, Chairman of Danang Hotel Association said: “These are all potential markets with a large number of tourists and increasing travel demand. Expanding flight routes will not only help attract more tourists but also create favorable conditions for international investors and businesses to come to Da Nang. And not only Da Nang, this increase in air connectivity will bring great benefits to famous neighboring destinations”.

Nguyen Duc Quynh, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Hotel Association and Danang Tourism Association, Chairman of Danang Hotel Association shared about the opportunities and challenges for the Danang tourism industry in expanding international flights to the city.

Although expanding international routes brings many opportunities, it also poses great challenges for Da Nang’s tourism industry. “The expansion of international routes brings a golden opportunity for Da Nang and Central Vietnam tourism in 2025. However, to make the most of this potential, the tourism, hotel and service industries need to prepare carefully. Only by improving service quality, infrastructure and effective customer attraction strategies can Da Nang reach its potential to become a leading destination in Asia,” emphasized Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh.

In addition, the application of digital technology to tourism services is also an important factor. From online booking systems, contactless check-in to personalized services, all will help improve customer experience and retain tourists longer.

Da Nang Aims To Become The Top Regional Destination

The expansion of the aviation network combined with a sustainable tourism development strategy is a key factor helping Da Nang rise in the race with international destinations. The city not only has beautiful natural landscapes but also owns a system of high-class hotels and resorts ready to serve the increasing flow of international visitors.

To maintain its appeal, Da Nang needs to continue to innovate its tourism products, develop types such as resort tourism, golf tourism, MICE tourism, and organize major cultural events to attract more tourists. Furama Resort Danang, with its existing advantages, is contributing to raising the brand of Da Nang tourism and affirming the city’s position on the international tourism map.
