DIFF 2025 OFFICIALLY KICKS OFF: A COLORFUL FESTIVAL LIGHTING UP DA NANG’S SKY

On the evening of May 31, the coastal city of Da Nang lit up as the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival – DIFF 2025 officially kicked off. With the theme “Cultural Essence,” the opening night delivered a brilliant symphony of light, music, and technology, marking the grand return of the most anticipated summer event in Da Nang’s history.

The festival opened with a spectacular showdown between the host team Da Nang (Vietnam 1) and reigning champion Joho Pyro (Finland). Over 10,000 spectators at the grandstand erupted in awe as dazzling fireworks displays portrayed Vietnam’s cultural journey, from traditions and national pride to integration and global aspirations.

Da Nang’s team presented an artistic symphony of light, evoking deep pride as the city celebrates 50 years since its liberation. Meanwhile, the Finnish team once again captivated the audience with its mysterious Nordic style, creatively utilizing water fireworks techniques and stunning aurora-inspired effects.

More than just a fireworks competition, DIFF 2025 is a multi-sensory extravaganza combining music, performance art, and for the first time in Vietnam, outdoor augmented reality (AR) technology. Through the Sun Paradise Land app, viewers could witness lively visual elements such as Cham Pa imagery, whales, and traditional dances floating across the sky above the Han River.

The opening night’s artistic stage also left a mark with standout performances such as “Đất nước lời ru” (The Nation’s Lullaby), “Bình minh Đà Nẵng” (Da Nang’s Dawn), and “Phong nữ x Cô đôi thượng ngàn,” showcasing rich Vietnamese cultural identity with a refined blend of tradition and modernity.
