“Christmas, also known as Noel, has long been a part of Vietnamese cultural life as an indispensable occasion for people to gather and enjoy the warm and joyful atmosphere of the holiday. However, not everyone fully understands the origins and meaning of Christmas.”

The origin of Christmas

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, which is why many Western countries are believed to have originated this special holiday. However, the true origin of Christmas began with Christians.

According to legend, during a journey to the town of Bethlehem, Jesus was born to his mother Mary there. Since they couldn’t find an inn to stay overnight, they had to shelter in a stable, and when Jesus was born, he was placed in a manger. Later, Jesus became a preacher, teaching people about tolerance, compassion, and unconditional love. As a result, Jesus is worshipped and revered by people, and his birth became the basis for the Christmas holiday.

At that time, under the rule of the Roman Empire, some countries celebrated Christmas on December 25, while others celebrated it on the evening of December 24. According to the Jewish calendar, sunset marks the beginning of a new day, not midnight as many believe.

Christmas celebrated on December 25 is called the main celebration or is considered the official day of Christmas, while Christmas celebrated on the evening of December 24 is called the Vigil. Therefore, before Christmas, people decorate Christmas trees in their homes or churches and prepare many exciting activities to welcome the holiday.

The meaning of Christmas

According to its origin, Christmas was originally a holiday for Christians. However, over time, Christmas has become increasingly popular and embraced by many countries around the world.

Thus, Christmas is not only a celebration of the birth of Jesus but also an occasion for people to enjoy the Christmas spirit. It is also a time for everyone to come together to hold warm Christmas parties and exchange meaningful gifts.

Vietnam Digital Government Summit 2024 at Furama International Convention Palace

Under the auspices and guidance of Da Nang City People’s Committee and Department of Information and Communications of Da Nang City, International Data Group in Vietnam (IDG Vietnam) will collaborate with Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA), The Radio and Electronics Association of Vietnam (REV) and The Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA) to organize Vietnam Digital Government Summit 2024. The conference will be held on October 25th in Da Nang City to share and exchange models, experiences, as well as introduce information technology solutions that promote the development of the digital economy and digital society, aiming towards the national digital transformation goals.

In recent times, Vietnam’s digital transformation has made significant progress. The framework for developing e-Government, digital government, and the digital economy is gradually being completed. Digital transformation within state administrative agencies has yielded positive results. The provision of online public services has seen significant advancements, with 4,400 services integrated into the National Public Service Portal. Databases for the digital government continue to be deployed and interconnected, supporting economic growth based on productivity and innovation.

This success is attributed to the decisive and coordinated direction of the entire political system, businesses, and citizens, which has helped Da Nang achieve remarkable achievements in digital transformation, with the digital economy accounting for 19.76% of the city’s GRDP in 2023. The city has made substantial investments in human resource training and the development of IT and telecommunications infrastructure, along with the collaboration of enterprises in this field. Da Nang aims to complete its international financial center and strongly develop Fintech by 2030, while also promoting the semiconductor industry. In the 2020-2025 term, the city is committed to renewing its growth model, developing high-tech industries, building a smart city, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, laying the foundation for the digital economy and society.

This year, Vietnam Digital Government Summit 2024 will be held in Da Nang City with the theme: “DA NANG – GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE CITY: OPPORTUNITIES FOR INVESTMENT AND TRADE DEVELOPMENT IN THE NEW ERA.”. The conference will focus on finding solutions to build a green and sustainable urban ecosystem, with particular emphasis on key areas such as e-Government, healthcare, education, transportation, and construction. These are challenging fields but hold the most promise for building a sustainable model that ensures rapid economic growth.

This year’s conference will include 01 Keynotes session in the morning and 02 Discussion sessions (running concurrently in the afternoon with the following outstanding discussion topic contents:

In addition, the event will also feature a program to honor The Outstanding Chief Digitalization Officer Awards 2024 is an award organized by IDG Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnam Digital Communication Association in the context of Vietnam’s digital transformation having made impressive strides in recent years. The award is held annually to honor the Chief Digitalization Officer of the Government sector and the business sector in Vietnam who have excellent achievements in organizing and directing the implementation activities of applying IT, security and promoting digital transformation of business management activities, contributing to promoting the digital economy and digital society towards digital government.

The conference is expected to attract 300-400 in-person participants, including leaders from government agencies, the Government Office, various ministries, and departments, as well as representatives from provinces and localities, experts in information technology and cybersecurity, and members of the press and media. Additionally, the conference will be broadcast live on the Cisco Webex Meeting platform and via Facebook Fanpage, with an estimated 300-400 attendees and connected units joining online.

Tàya House: a Serene Northwest Retreat & Untold Story

Hidden behind the facade of the ancient Tàya House lies a journey of passion and dedication. Meticulously recreated from a wooden stilt house in Mường Khụ, Hòa Bình, Tàya House offers an authentic glimpse into the lives of the Mường people. The house’s open-plan design, with its three rooms and thatched roof, invites visitors to connect with nature. Constructed using traditional carpentry techniques and locally sourced materials such as trai and sến wood, Tàya House showcases the intricate craftsmanship of the Mường people. Every component, from the beams to the rafters, was carefully crafted and assembled using traditional Mường techniques. Following months of meticulous construction guided by two local Mường artisans, the house has been almost entirely reconstructed in its original form within the Lagoon garden of Furama Resort Đà Nẵng. Nestled against a hillside and surrounded by small streams, the ancient stilt house “Tàya House” not only recreates the traditional living space of the Mường people but also symbolizes the cultural exchange between the northernmost region and the central coast.

HorecFex 2024 achieves great success with over 2,500 attendees, 50 tech exhibits, and 55 leading speakers, bringing breakthroughs to the hospitality industry

From September 23-24, 2024, the HorecFex 2024 Danang – Vietnam event was successfully held at Ariyana Convention Centre Danang under the theme “Exhibition & Forum on Technology and Innovation in the Hospitality”. Over the two-day event, there were an exhibition featuring 50 booths showcasing technology products from the supply chain of services and tourism. The forum included 9 workshop sessions with 40 presentations and discussions on the application of new technologies, digital transformation, and hotel management in the new era. The workshops featured the participation and insights of more than 55 speakers, both domestic and international, from leading companies in the industry such as Microsoft, Oracle, FPT, etc. Notably, speaker Hoàng Nam Tiến attended and shared on the topic ‘Leadership & Leading Change’ in the morning session on September 24, 2024. HorecFex 2024 Danang – Vietnam welcomed over 2,500 attendees, including entrepreneurs, business leaders, and CEOs from the Horeca industry (Hotel, Restaurant, Catering), and more.

Speaking on behalf of the host city, Mr. Hồ Kỳ Minh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, stated: “The rapid growth of the tourism industry has driven hotels, restaurants, and F&B service providers to continuously enhance their quality and adopt cutting-edge technologies to elevate guest experiences. Announcement of the Exhibition & Forum “HorecFex Vietnam 2024

On the 23rd and 24th of September 2024, the esteemed “HORECFEX Vietnam 2024” Exhibition and Forum will convene at the prestigious Ariyana Convention Center in Danang. Embracing the visionary theme of “Leading the Future of Hospitality,” this event is jointly organized by the respected Vietnam Hotel Association, and the Ariyana Convention Centre Danang. The event will enjoy the prestigious media sponsorship of Vietnam Television’s renowned VTV8 channel.

Over the two-day event, there will be an exhibition featuring 50 booths showcasing technology products from the supply chain of services and tourism. The forum will include 9 workshop sessions with 40 presentations and discussions on the application of new technologies, digital transformation, and hotel management in the new era. The workshops will feature the participation and insights of more than 55 speakers, both domestic and international, from leading companies in the industry such as Microsoft, Oracle, FPT, etc. Notably, speaker Hoàng Nam Tiến will attend and share on the topic ‘Leadership & Leading Change’ in the morning session on September 24, 2024. HORECFEX Vietnam 2024 expects to welcome over 2,000 attendees, including entrepreneurs, business leaders, and CEOs from the Horeca industry (Hotel, Restaurant, Catering), and more.

Furama Resort Danang – Honored for the Second Consecutive Time at M&C ASIA Stella Awards 2024

On September 4th, at The Londoner Macao Resort, the world-renowned MICE organization Northstar Meeting Group hosted the “M&C Asia Stella Awards 2024” – one of the most prestigious awards in the MICE industry in Asia.

With the participation of over 100 leading entities in Asia’s MICE services sector, the 2024 awards ceremony featured 29 awards across six categories, including MICE destinations, convention centers, destination management companies, hotels, integrated resorts, and best practices in sustainability efforts across the region. These awards aim to promote the development, innovation, and best practices that contribute to the advancement of MICE organizations across Asia.

Furama Resort Danang, renowned as Vietnam’s top event destination, has hosted thousands of international events and conferences, leaving a lasting impression on government officials, event organizers, and both domestic and international clients. Notable events include APEC 2006, APEC 2017 welcoming 21 world leaders, and the 6th Global Environment Facility Assembly (GEF6). International Convention Palace (ICP) at Furama Resort Danang has a capacity of up to 1,000 guests, along with 10 function rooms accommodating between 50 and 300 guests.
