Trade Connection and Export Promotion Conference – Da Nang 2024

Implementing the Project “Promoting Vietnamese Enterprises to Directly Participate in Foreign Distribution Networks by 2030” according to Decision No. 1415/QD-TTg dated November 14, 2022 and the Action Program to implement the Strategy for Import and Export of Goods by 2030 according to Decision No. 1445/QD-TTg dated November 19, 2022 of the Prime Minister; within the framework of the International Trade, Tourism and Investment Fair of the East-West Economic Corridor – Da Nang 2024, the City People’s Committee organized the “Conference on Trade Connection and Export Promotion – Da Nang 2024” on the afternoon of August 2, 2024 at Da Nang Grand Ballroom, Furama Resort Da Nang. The conference aims to contribute to the implementation of the export development goals of Da Nang city in particular and the whole country in general; At the same time, strengthen connections with provinces and cities at home and abroad, creating opportunities for businesses to meet and find partners, importers, and potential buyers; contributing to promoting business products, connecting trade, and expanding markets.

The conference had more than 400 delegates attending in person and online from state management agencies, diplomatic agencies, consulates of countries in Vietnam, foreign trade promotion organizations in Vietnam, Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces in South Central Laos… foreign enterprises, distributors in Vietnam, Vietnam Trade Offices in other countries and associations, unions, enterprises of countries: China, Japan, Russian Federation, Indonesia,…; business associations, unions; enterprises in Da Nang city, enterprises of provinces in the Central – Central Highlands and foreign enterprises attending the EWEC Da Nang Fair 2024.

Through the Conference, delegates, especially export enterprises, were able to grasp information about export potential to European and American markets; in particular, they were shared useful information about the market and export opportunities to these markets by Vietnamese Trade Counselors in China, Japan, and the Russian Federation; representatives of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and the International Business Development Center (under the Association of Russian Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs for Cooperation with Asia); at the same time, participating enterprises and units also grasped purchasing policies, were supported to connect and share experiences to bring goods into the distribution systems of domestic and foreign distribution units. The Conference listened to the opinions of the City Mechanical Association, the Vietnam Logistics Business Association in Da Nang, and enterprises as well as shared issues of concern, difficulties and proposals to further develop production, business, and import-export activities in the coming time.

On the sidelines of the conference, there were activities of displaying goods, introducing products of 75 enterprises and direct consulting table for enterprises wishing to bring goods into the supermarket system of distributors; at the same time, images and information of goods displayed by enterprises were also livestreamed at the online link of the Conference.

Before the Conference, the Department of Industry and Trade conducted a survey on the connection needs of enterprises; compiled and sent to domestic and foreign trade offices and distributors, representative offices of the Department of Industry and Trade in Lao provinces, consular offices, international organizations and groups of production and business enterprises to coordinate in finding connection pairs. As a result, with the active coordination of agencies and units, connections were promoted, supporting 09 pairs of enterprises to exchange, work and sign contracts in principle/Memorandum of Understanding to provide logistics services; export rice, ginseng; put cosmetics and food products into the distribution system, etc.

With the world economic situation still facing many difficulties, market demand has not yet recovered strongly, Vietnamese enterprises in general and import-export enterprises in particular still face many difficulties in production and business, finding partners and orders, organizing trade connection and export promotion activities is extremely necessary and meaningful; creating opportunities for enterprises to promote products, connect with domestic and foreign partners, creating motivation to promote production and import-export business activities of enterprises./.

Nearly 1,000 People Join a Beach Run to Promote Da Nang’s Coastal Tourism

On August 4, 2024, the Barefoot Beach Run 2024 took place at Da Nang Beach, attracting nearly 1,000 running enthusiasts.

The 4 km race stretched along Danang’s coastline, starting from the Ariyana Convention Centre Danang and ending at Muong Thanh Hotel.

The event was organized by the Da Nang Tourism Association, the Da Nang Hotel Association, and Ariyana Convention Centre Da Nang. Participants included tourists, locals, sports lovers, and representatives from the tourism and service industries, with some coming from neighboring provinces and even from abroad.

The purpose of the run was to showcase the beauty of Da Nang’s beaches, promote health and fitness, strengthen community connections, and raise environmental awareness.

The first-place winner was Nguyen Hoang Phi Vinh, with a time of 17 minutes, followed by Dang Dao Duc in second place, and Pham Nhu Phuoc in third for the men’s category. In the women’s category, Le Thi Phuong claimed first place, with Nguyen Thi Thu Trang and Kim Anh taking second and third place, respectively.

The event organizers plan to make the Barefoot Beach Run an annual event. Mrs. Truong Thi Lan Huong, Managing Director of Ariyana Convention Centre Danang, highlighted the opportunity for the local sports community, tourism industry workers, and both domestic and international tourists to engage in a vibrant and thrilling sports atmosphere while enjoying the stunning beauty of Da Nang’s beaches.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association and Chairman of the Da Nang Hotel Association, emphasized that the Barefoot Beach Run adds to the list of exciting summer activities in Da Nang, including the Asian Film Festival, My Tam’s “My Soul 1981” concert, the Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival, and the upcoming rock concert “The Next.”

The dynamic activities at Da Nang’s beaches underscore the effectiveness and right direction of Da Nang’s MICE tourism development strategy, positioning the city as a focal point for top-tier events in Asia.

Vietjet Welcomes Its 200 Millionth Passenger and Announces New Routes to India

On July 31, within the framework of the Vietnam – India Business Forum held in New Delhi, Vietjet joyfully welcomed its 200 millionth passenger and announced a new flight route from Ahmedabad to Da Nang.

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, along with senior leaders and the business communities of both countries, congratulated Vietjet on welcoming its 200 millionth passenger and introducing a new flight route during the Prime Minister’s state visit to India.

Vietjet’s 200 millionth passenger is Indian businessman Mr. Sandeep Mehta. To honor this special occasion, Vietjet awarded him with one year of free international flights.

On this occasion, Vietjet also announced the launch of a new route connecting Ahmedabad, India’s largest city in the state of Gujarat, with Da Nang, the most livable city in Vietnam. The new route is expected to serve passengers starting October 2024.

Ahmedabad is a vibrant and historic city in Gujarat, known for its unique blend of ancient and modern architecture. Gujarat is home to many major Indian companies investing in Vietnam. On July 14, 2024, Mỹ Tâm’s live show “My Soul 1981” in Da Nang was a resounding success and became an unforgettable musical event with many standout features. More than 5,000 audiences joined the event:

The audience in Da Nang arrived early and were immersed in the sweet melodies until the very last moments of the event.

The special event was attended by many of Mỹ Tâm’s relatives and friends, including her parents and family. This was the first time a Mỹ Tâm live show had brought together such a large gathering of her loved ones, creating a warm, intimate, and emotionally charged atmosphere for the Da Nang-born singer.

The longest and most surprising performance

Closing Ceremony of the 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) 2024

On the evening of July 6th, the Ariyana Convention Centre Danang had the honour of welcoming over 800 distinguished guests, including leaders from the city of Da Nang, various department representatives, organisers, and top Vietnamese artists, for the closing ceremony of the 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF II) 2024, under the theme ‘Bridging Asia.’

The impressive closing ceremony featured numerous awards presented to outstanding films, directors, and actors. The success of DANAFF II contributed to the realization of the goal to position Da Nang within UNESCO’s network of creative cities.

At the closing ceremony and awards presentation, DANAFF II presented awards in two categories: the Asian Competition and the Vietnamese Competition. The prestigious Grand Prize for Best Film in the Vietnamese Competition category was awarded to “Mai,” directed by Trấn Thành. Additionally, “Mai” received two other significant awards: Best Actress (Phương Anh Đào) and Best Director (Trấn Thành). Other awards in the Vietnamese Competition category included Best Actor, awarded to Thái Hòa for “Lật mặt 7: Một điều ước” by Lý Hải, and the Audience Choice Award for Favorite Vietnamese Film, which went to the animated film collection “Cá chép của ông Táo,” “Độc lạ làng Khoai,” and “Đội lân sư nhí nhố.” The NETPAC Award was also given to “Lật mặt 7: Một điều ước.”

In the Asian Competition category, the Grand Prize for Best Film was awarded to the Vietnamese film “Cu li không bao giờ khóc.” Other awards included Best Screenplay for Liu Jiayin (for “Những mảnh đời đáng giá”), Best Actor for Wu Kang Ren (for “Nguyện ước vĩnh cửu”), Best Actress for Yuumi Kawai (for “Cuộc đời của Ann”), Best Director for Phạm Thiên Ân (for “Bên trong vỏ kén vàng”), and the Special Jury Award for “Cuộc đời của Ann.”

DANAFF Continues to Enhance Its Professionalism

Speaking at the closing ceremony of DANAFF II, Mr. Trần Chí Cường, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, stated that DANAFF II, with the theme “Bridging Asia,” brought a vibrant and colorful week of cinema to Da Nang. This marks the second time Da Nang has successfully hosted an international film event. Throughout the week of DANAFF II, a wide range of activities took place, including public film screenings at various theaters, outdoor movie showings, film crew meet-and-greets, artist interactions, and international workshops and seminars. Notably, for the first time in Vietnam, DANAFF II presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to an outstanding filmmaker, Director – People’s Artist Đặng Nhật Minh. “All these activities have left a positive impression on a wide audience, including students, film professionals, and experts in the field,” Mr. Trần Chí Cường expressed.

Dr. Ngô Phương Lan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA), Co-Head of the Organizing Committee, and Director of DANAFF, highly praised the professionalism in organizing DANAFF II. She remarked that all events and activities at DANAFF II created a vibrant, harmonious, youthful, and lively symphony that was surely felt by the distinguished guests, artists, filmmakers, and audience.

According to Dr. Ngô Phương Lan, the success of DANAFF II was attributed to the enthusiastic participation of 800 guests and delegates, including nearly 80 international delegates, over 100 journalists and editors from various media outlets, more than 100 volunteers, and tens of thousands of audience members. Additionally, the dedication and hard work of more than 100 members of the Organizing Committee, Subcommittees, and hundreds of others who supported the festival day and night contributed to the event’s success. “We ask that you continue to place your trust in us so that future DANAFF editions will be larger and more professional, helping to develop Vietnam’s film industry and soon position Da Nang—a city strong in creative content and festivals—within UNESCO’s network of creative cities,” Dr. Ngô Phương Lan expressed as a goal for future editions of DANAFF.
