Press Conference for the Opening of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival
On the afternoon of July 1st, the Furama International Conference Center was honored to welcome nearly 100 distinguished guests to the press conference for the 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival, 2024.
The Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF), ranked among the top 10 outstanding cultural events in Vietnam in 2023, will return with the theme “DANAFF – The Bridge of Asia.” Building on the success of the first DANAFF, the Da Nang City People’s Committee continues to direct, and the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) will lead, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City, UNIMedia Company, and other units to organize the 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival from July 2 to July 6, 2024, in Da Nang.
From the 63 films competing in the Asian Films and Vietnamese Films categories, the organizers will select and honor outstanding cinematic works that are rich in humanity, offer fresh discoveries, and possess unique artistic expression. Additionally, the festival will widely introduce to the public new films that have high content and artistic value from the cinemas of Vietnam, the Asia-Pacific region, and selected films from world cinema. This year, DANAFF II will not only screen films at five major theaters but also add two outdoor screening venues, promising to bring a unique and exciting film experience to the audience.
The Opening Ceremony (July 2nd) and the Closing and Awards Ceremony (July 6th), along with the Red Carpet event of the festival, will take place at the Ariyana Convention Centre Danang. These events will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV) and will be attended by leaders of the Party and State, leaders from various ministries, departments, and sectors of Da Nang City and provinces across the country, as well as renowned Asian and international film experts and stars, top Vietnamese artists and film experts, and representatives of film delegations and cinema activists from both within and outside of Vietnam.
In addition, the program will feature a variety of vibrant activities, including: a seminar on “French Cinema and its Relationship with Vietnamese Cinema,” a roundtable discussion on “Sharing Experiences in Connecting Coastal Film Festivals,” a talk on “The Creative Style of Director Dang Nhat Minh,” and a workshop on “Film Production Cooperation – International Experiences and Development Solutions.” These events will be held at the International Conference Palace (ICP) – Furama Resort within the Ariyana – Furama Da Nang International Tourism Complex.
Mr. Andre Pierre Gentzsch, General Manager of Furama – Ariyana Tourism Complex Da Nang, shared: “By being chosen as the venue for the second Da Nang Asian Film Festival, the Furama – Ariyana Danang International Tourism Complex has reaffirmed its leading position not only in Da Nang but also throughout Vietnam in hosting international events.
