Ideas for making Da Nang eco-friendly collected

 

Ideas for developing Da Nang into one of the most environmentally-friendly cities in Viet Nam during the 2021-2030 period were highlighted at a one-day scientific seminar in Da Nang on 17 October.
Hosted by the Da Nang People’s Committee, the event was attended by experts from the Japan Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), along with scientists and environmental managers in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

Also present at this event was Deputy Minister of the Natural Resources and Environment Vo Tuan Nhan.
Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Head of the Faculty of Architecture of the Da Nang University of Science and Technology, highlighted the importance of developing sustainable urban planning solutions in Da Nang, and launching new scheme to generate more green space in the city in a bid to meet national and global evaluation criteria for an environmentally friendly city.

Mr Nguyen Xuan Minh, Secretary of the Viet Nam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers, suggested that Da Nang government should focus on effective steps to reduce the emissions from road traffic in order to realise Da Nang goals of cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

Mr Naoki Mori, the Technical and Communication Director of IGES, underlined a must-do for Da Nang to drive the circular and low-carbon economy, and deploy Industry 4.0 technologies in environmental quality monitoring and control, to ensure its sustainable growth.

Deputy Minister Nhan commended Da Nang for its efforts in turning itself one of the most environmentally-friendly city in Viet Nam by 2025.

Da Nang, Vietnam Plans for Smart City Development

 

Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang announced that its smart city project is a key driver of socio-economic development in the future, in addition to a transition to technology-based city management.

According to media reports, the statement was made by Da Nang’s Chairman, Huynh Duc Tho, at the Smart City Summit 2019, which took place in the city on October 23. He said that Da Nang already approved a smart city development plan for 2018-2025 and expects it to be completed around 2030. The city mayor added that the Summit is a good opportunity for the city’s agencies and domestic and foreign experts to discuss the models, solutions, technologies, and policies to successfully build a smart city.

In addition to Da Nang’s development plan, the participants at the summit reported on smart city trends in ASEAN, Malaysia’s experience in smart city building, and public-private partnership in smart city building.
There was also an in-depth discussion session on leaders’ visions in smart city development and the core components of building, developing, and operating a smart city.

Vietjet Air Increases Flights Between Da Nang And Other Nationwide Destinations

 

The low-cost airline has increased its services on Da Nang- Ho Chi Minh City route to 4 daily round-trip flights, and on Da Nang-Ha Noi route with 3 daily flights, starting from 13 September.  The carrier has planned to increase the number of flights on the two routes to 7 and 10 respectively from early October.

Vietjet Air has also resumed some domestic routes connecting Da Nang with other nationwide locations.

In detail, the carrier operates one daily round-trip flight between Da Nang and Hai Phong City, and 5 round-trip flights weekly between Da Nang and Da Lat City.

Also, it offers 4 round-trip flights per week between Da Nang and Buon Ma Thuot, Can Tho and Nha Trang.

Vietjet Air has lifted restrictions on seat distancing adopted for its domestic flights departing from Da Nang after obtaining permission from the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam.

Da Nang Develops Smart Tourism Solutions To Drive Post-Pandemic Recovery

 

Over recent years, Da Nang has prioritised developing smart tourism, which can be simply understood as a kind of tourism that applies information technology to regular tourism activities. In the face of hard times triggered by coronavirus, smart tourism is believed to be an inevitable trend in the ‘smokeless industry’ in a bid to effectively marketing the city’s products and services.

According to CEO of the Songhan Incubator (SHi) Ly Dinh Quan, a number of apps such as IoT (Internet of things) create connections in the process of smart travel deployment, help to establish closer links between tour operators, functional management agencies and tourists, with transparent and interconnected information.In his perspectives, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association Cao Tri Dung underlined a need for tour operators and travel agents in Da Nang to promote the use of social media, online travel booking platforms, as well as seek out new technology approaches to bring their products closer to tourists.

The Picture Of Golden Bridge Won At The Architecture 2020

 

The winning photo by Vietnamese photographer Tran Tuan Viet has been receiving the highest votes on Agora App. Golden Bridge is the renowned construction located on Ba Na Hills (Da Nang), which hovers virtually over 1.400 meters above sea level. The bridge is held by two giant cement hands and divided into 8 spans (the longest span is up to 20 meters) with a total length of 148.6 meters.

Steam Locomotives Will Operate On The Hue – Da Nang Railway

 

On May 21, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong said that the Ministry agreed to allow the steam locomotives to operate on the railway section of Hue – Da Nang. The functional units will work with the investor to lease railway infrastructure and prepare a train operation plan.

A couple of steam locomotives mainly serve tourists, running daily from Lang Co station (Thua Thien Hue) – Da Nang station. This train has VIP seat carriages, sightseeing wagons and restaurants, power generation wagons and kitchens. The wagons are all newly built at Di An Railway Plant.

The train will run through Hai Van pass, the most beautiful route of the North-South railway with sections running around the pass, railway bridges and tunnels built by the French.
This type of locomotive was popularly applied in the world from the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. The Vietnamese railway industry gradually replaced steam locomotives with electric and diesel locomotives in the 1990s.

Free Entrance To Marble Mountains And Museums From June 1 To August 31, 2020

 

Based on the Statement of the People’s Committee of Da Nang City, at the 14th (extraordinary) meeting this morning (May 22), Da Nang City People’s Council agreed to waive the fee for visiting the Marble Mountains, other cultural buildings and museum of the city including Museum of Cham sculpture, Museum of Danang and Da Nang Fine Arts Museum for domestic and foreign tourists.

Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Danang Department of Tourism shared: “The purpose of the free entrance to the Marble Mountains, cultural sites and museums in Da Nang area is to raise tourist arrivals and subsequently boost the city’s socio-economic development; meanwhile, create a competitive product package for regional destinations; thereby stimulating travel businesses to build products to bring tourists to Da Nang; indirectly support and relieve difficulties for service enterprises, tourism and auxiliary businesses in the tourism industry (such as trade and transportation …). “

The period of application is 3 months, from June 1 to August 31, 2020.

Da Nang Tourism Promoted On BBC In June

VGP – BBC World News will broadcast a video on tourism in the central city of Da Nang on its Asia-Pacific channel.

The Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre and BBC News’ Global Book Corporation reached an agreement on tourism promotion on June 10.

Accordingly, BBC will daily broadcast 30-second videos featuring the land and people of Da Nang within one month.
The videos will be shown for a total of 98 times at rush hours including 6:00AM -9:30 AM; 9:30AM – 5:00PM; 5:00 PM-7:00 AM; and 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Earlier, Da Nang has deployed a string of measures to stimulate tourism demands and strive for 2.4 million travelers in the second half of this year.
